I don't get it, is Spadge working through all the bands he's heard of?

Some I like,

Gaye Bikers on Acid- Dig Your Own Hole
Curve
Lush
Mogwai
KMFDM
Skinny Puppy
Revolting c**ks- really listen to Beers, Steers and Queers- a lot better than it's title may suggest
Ministry
Nine Inch Nails (but a bit too mainstream for me nowadays)
Queens of the Stone Age, dig out the earlier stuff before they sacked the drug addled bassist
Anything involving Dave Grohl
Deep Purple
Ry Cooder- I, Flathead
The Stanley Brothers
Elvis, you gotta love the King

However, I'm not sure about Scorpions, too poodle rock for me.

Yep, I'm an ageing indie kid verging on country rock who's car still has a tape player.

Sam
I've got one now thanks!

At my age I use as much history as possible to weed out the rubbish before I'll listen to anything.
So I agree Stan Getz plays 'Eddie Sauter-Focus' - the best album in the history of the Earth bar none. But I'll allow singles "Death of a Clown" and "Bad Moon Rising" to be present as well. Oh yes. and lots by Janis Joplin.

Its friday afternoon and this looks far more fruitful than work...

Great lists, would recommend also:

Guided by Voices (up to and including under the bushes, under the starts - motor away is all time classic...)
Built to Spill
Yo La Tengo
Pavement (bit "college rock" but some gems)
Halo Benders
Yellotone
Sonic Youth
Dinosaur Jr
Sebadoh
Bonnie Prince Billy (downbeat but great)
Smog

and
Byrds (most)
Dylan (most)
Rolling Stones
Guns n' Roses (some)

but really.... Dire Straights...?!!

Dumpy's Rusty Nuts!!!
Saw them in Newcastle about 10 years ago, they were brilliant, although a bit too much bemoaning the fact Dumpy was in Hawkwind for about half an hour, but very funny and a great gig. Couldn't recommend a record by them though, just a very good live act.
Debs, King Crimson, very good call!
I saw a great band in Canada once, although I was too drunk to remember who the hell they were/are, look out for them!

Sam
I've got one now thanks!

Saw Tull in Ipswich last year - excellent. Had tickets last week too but couldn't go.

Walked into a bar (ouch!) in Canada many years ago - This blind guy was sitting there playing a guitar with his teeth....Jeff Healey! Awesome :D

I meant to add that everyone should listen to Fred Wedlock's 'Frollicks' album after a good night on the sauce - it will split your sides....

It is hard to find, but occasionally pops up on Ebay/Amazon - original LP was on the Village Thing record label.
